Our Story
JPD Lawnmowers, Chainsaws & Tool Hire was founded in March 2010 by John Phelan, who had previously run a successful tool and equipment business in Dublin for 35 years. After a brief retirement in Kerry, John felt the pull to return to the work he loved and knew best. With demand quickly growing, John brought Brendan Sheehan into the business—someone he saw as the ideal partner to help manage the increasing volume of repairs and sales. The partnership flourished, and Brendan’s energy and instinct for the trade soon became the driving force behind the business. Recognising his potential, brands like STIHL and Viking encouraged Brendan to expand into Tralee.
In 2014, Brendan opened a second location in Monavalley Industrial Estate, Tralee, placing his brother Kevin Sheehan in charge of day-to-day operations. From a one-man setup in 2010, JPD has grown into a thriving, family-run business with two locations and a dedicated team of five. At the core of this growth is a simple but powerful belief: offer great products at fair prices, back them up with honest, professional service, and treat every customer with respect. It’s a straightforward philosophY, but one that has earned the trust and loyalty of customers across Kerry and beyond.
Today, JPD’s turnover is over seven times what it was in its first year, a reflection of hard work, fairness, and consistency.
